The national capital of this lovely country, Delhi, resembles a miniature India for all the right reasons. Modern-day Delhi, is divided into two worlds: New Delhi and Old Delhi. Delhi has been the country's strategic and cultural hub from the period of the Mahabharata (Hastinapur, which is very close to Delhi). For ages, as the centre of attentions, Delhi has been subjected to invasions by foreign entities - from Alexanda to Shak, Huns, Pathans, Mughals, and eventually the British, who controlled India from Delhi for more than centuries. As a result, Delhi is more than just India's capital, it also represents the country as a whole in miniature form.
Delhi has a wealth of historical significance that should be explored and travelled. Now, visiting and seeing Delhi is more than just about history, it's also about modern architecture and geopolitical significance. Delhi is the modern-day Troy. Its history is as old as the Yamuna River, one of Hinduism's most sacred rivers. Delhi is also recognized for its great cuisine, which features dishes from all over India. With numerous bazaars and markets, including Chandni Chowk - India's most famous commercial district, Delhi is also a shopper's paradise. From monuments, museums, and shrines to modern-day facilities, amenities, and entertainment, Delhi has a diverse range of tourist attractions. Exploring the city is like being roaming to a miniature version of India.
As mentioned, Delhi has lots of UNESCO Heritage site to explore like - India Gate, Qutub Minar, Lodi Gardens, Humayun's Tomb, The Lotus Temple, ISKCON Temple, The Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Mughal Gardens, Jantar Mantar, Akshardham Temple, Jama Masjid, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Chandni Chowk, Purana Qila, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Gandhi Smriti and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, The Jantar Mantar Observatory, The Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum, The National Museum, New Delhi, Laxminarayan Temple, National Zoological Park, The National Crafts Museum, The National Rail Museum, The Hauz Khas Complex etc. So come to Delhi, explore Delhi – "Dilwalo Ka Shahar".

Shey Monastery - the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. The Shey Monastery or Gompa and the Shey Palace complex are structures located on a hillock in Shey, 15 kilometres to the south of Leh in Ladakh, northern India on the Leh-Manali road. Shey was the old capital of the upper Ladakh region. When the Dogras of Jammu invaded Ladakh in 1842, the Namgyals abandoned the palace and fled to Stok (they made it their permanent residence) on the opposite side of the Indus River. It is conjectured that the fort found in ruins, not dated, above the present palace at Shey, belonged to this period of invasion. Subsequently, when the political dictates necessitated shifting of the capital to Leh, even then the importance of Shey continued since it was a mandatory requirement of the Namgyal kings to father their heir apparent here.
3 Idiot School - This school is also known as "The Druk White Lotus School" located in Shey, Ladakh, in northern India, and is known locally as the "Druk Padma Karpo School". Karpo means White and Padma means Lotus in the local language Bodhi. The school got its name 3 idiot school after the famous Indian actor Mr. Amir Khan cast his memorable movie 3 idiots here. Post lunch you may visit :
Leh Palace - Leh Palace is a former royal palace overlooking the town of Leh, Ladakh, in the Indian Himalayas. This palace was constructed circa 1600 by Sengge Namgyal. The palace was abandoned when Dogra forces took control of Ladakh in the mid-19th century and forced the royal family to move to Stok Palace. It is nine storeys high, the upper floors accommodated the royal family, while the lower floors held stables and store rooms. Much of the palace is in deteriorated condition, and little survives of its interior decorations. The Palace Museum holds a rich collection of jewellery, ornaments, ceremonial dresses and crowns. Chinese thangka or paintings, which are more than 450 years old, with intricate designs still retain the bright colors derived from crushed and powdered gems and stones. Structures around the palace's base include the prominent Namgyal Stupa, the colourfully muralled Chandazik Gompa and the 1430 Chamba Lhakhang, with medieval mural fragments located between the inner and outer walls. The palace is being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), this palace is open to the public and the roof provides panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding areas.

As a traveller, you must be prepared for any circumstances while travelling. There may appear any harsh situation which you can control with some basic things you carry. Here is some list of them :
Identity Proof : Always carry your original ID proof with you as Kashmir is the most sensitive part of India and anytime situation may go wrong. In that case it is only your ID proof that proves your nationality. So carry your Voter Card / Aadhaar Card / Driving Licence with you.
Keep / inform nearby contacts with you : If you have any contacts near that region / state like in Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana etc, let them inform about your journey or keep their address and contact no with you so that for any tough situation you can contact them for any help.
Medicines : This is one of the most important things in your travel kit or hand bag. Always carry basic medicine for fever, headache, vomiting, stomach upset and prescribed antiseptics, antibiotics, antacids and painkillers along with inhalers, pain relief sprays, band-aid, bandage & ointment for safe and secure journey.
Warm clothes and Jackets : Depending on your journey date you need to carry light (April - Oct) or Heavy (Nov - March) woollen clothes with you. Places like Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahelgam are very chilling throughout the year hence take proper precautions. It is advisable to carry water proof jackets or windcheater to avoid unseasonal rains.
Trekking Shoes/Boots : If travelling icy places like Gulmarg or Sonmagr during cold season, it is better to wear your own high thigh boots or gumboots to safe guard your legs though you can rent it from local stores.
Dry Fruits : Trust me, this is a must to be in your travel bags or hand bags. Kashmir is a hilly area and landslides may halt and stuck you in a place for long time. In that case only dry fruits can keep your hunger in control and alive.
Indeed the list is huge. Here we have provided some basic necessities to keep with you while travelling in Ladakh. In spite of the above listed things there are many to add on your item list like moisturisers, cold cream, extra carry bags, umbrella, adequate money, debit cards, credit cards, torch, candle, match stick, gas lighter, small rope, small knife, camera etc.
So, if you don't want to fly directly to Leh from Delhi, NatureWings suggest you to make your journey from Srinagar. First you book a Kashmir Package Tour from Kolkata from NatureWings and after arriving in Srinagar, you stay one night in a Houseboat. We bet, it will be a different experience during your Ladakh Tour. Then you start a 6 to 7 hrs road journey to Kargil (2,675 m) through NH1 via Sonmarg and Dras – known as "The Gateway to Ladakh". It is 200km journey with breathtaking natural beauty on both sides of the road. Go for a night stay in Kargil which comes under Ladakh Union Territory. Next day morning after a little Kargil Tour, you start for Leh by Road. Kargil to Leh is almost another 200+ Km journey via NH1. It will be another 6 to 7 hrs journey and you can cover some of the good sightseeing points like Lamayuru Monastery, Alchi Monastery, Likir Monastery, Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib Etc. Here most important point is that as you are already staying in high altitude like Srinagar (1,585 m) and Kargil (2,675 m), you will acclimatize yourself easily in Leh (3,500 m).
Leh is having a very good hospital with modern facility, good infrastructure, well maintained and clean. It is very good Gov hospital and provide wonderful treatment to tourist in emergency. Apart from that, many hotels keep oxygen cylinder, so in case of need, travelers can avail it. Moreover many tour operators keep small oxygen cylinder in car also in case of emergency.
Almost all sightseeing places are open in Leh except White Lotus School (closed as on date), Hall of Fame (partially closed as on date), but other sightseeing places are open like Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, Hemis Monastery and Shanti Stupa. Leh palace some time is allowing visitors to enter inside or some time you can see it from outside. So most of the places are open and can be visited during your Leh Ladakh Tour Package from Delhi.
The answer is, it depends. If your (Indian Citizen) Ladakh Tour is confined within Leh city, you don't need to procure any Permit. Here comes the real fact as your Ladakh Trip will not be confined within the Leh city, you will surely travel the main attractions of Ladakh like Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Hunder Village, Lake Moriri etc, so you definitely need a permit to travel there. This permit is known as IPL or Inner Line Permit which is issued from the DM office at Leh. You can also apply for this permit online. Specific portal is available in Internet for that.
Ladakh has got many names like 'the Moon land', 'Little Tibet', 'the last Shangri-La' and 'Roof of the World'.
According to Helena Norberg-Hodge, founder & director of "Local Futures - Ladakh" - "Ladakh is a harsh and mountainous desert of wild beauty, set among the jagged peaks of western Himalayas".
In high altitude like Ladakh, one can experience altitude sickness along with difficulty in breath, loss of appetite, dizziness, lack of sleep etc. In that case a good amount of sleep is absolute necessary and you must not indulge with any hard job like hiking, trekking, long run etc. Just with a proper rest your body with become habituate with the new environment.
January is the coldest month in Ladakh and the temperature is freezing cold. During day time the temperature remains at -3°C to -5°C and during night the temperature drops even further. It ranges between -12°C to -15°C. During January to March end, entire valley and mountains get carpeted under the thick layer of white snow.
The mid of September to mid of October months are considered to be the best season to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of the landscape of Ladakh as well as Leh. Absolutely, it is very much possible, you just have to start early (4:00 AM) from Leh City if you want to cover Leh to Pangong in a day & be back by evening. It will take you at least 5-6 hours to get to Pangong & another 5-6 hours to return back.
Yes, you would need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Nubra Valley as it is too close to the country borders. Whereas, foreigners would need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for the same.
Khardung La is a high mountain pass [5,359 m / 17,582 ft] in the Leh district of the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh. The pass is the gateway to the Shyok and Nubra valleys. Fantastic arrangement by Team NatureWings. I recently book a trip in October with NatureWings after reading a lot of positive feedback especially their expertise in Himalayan Region. Our plan was for 7N/8D covering Leh & Ladakh. Throughout our journey, every day I used to get calls from them inquiring about the travel comfort, stay etc. I was really surprised with the professionalism and the care for their tourists. From handling of Permits, coordinating with driver, informing the concern person for our stays everything was butter smooth. I highly recommend NatureWings & Team to all, looking forward to do my future trips through them only.
It was an amazing Ladakh Trip. It’s our first family trip with NatureWings and In future surely we will plan our trips with NatureWings. All the arrangements made by them were as committed at the time of selling. The vehicle was in a very good shape & the driver we got, was an experienced young locale chap, who knows the hills very well. He shared his experience and travel tips as a guide beyond just driving. Quality of the hotels & surrounding breathtaking view was the icing on the cake. We got warm and comfortable rooms, along with the hot, fresh & hygienic foods. NatureWings hospitality touched our mind. The Leh Ladakh Tour Packages was beyond our expectations within this price range. Overall, it was a life time experience for me and my family. We will highly recommend NatureWings & Team to all for their Hospitality and the Expertise to provide the highest satisfaction.
Leh Ladakh is beautiful. This is to motivate people of all ages to surely visit this place once a heaven on earth. We had gone through NatureWings which was suggested by one of my friends who have experienced their expertise in Himalayan Region. We started our journey by flight from Mumbai to leh. It was a family Tour consisting of 7 Members. Leh is indeed a beautiful place to behold, best was Nubra valley. The stay in Nubra valley was excellent with good food and best possible service. The trip from Leh to Nubra valley and Pangong Lake has breathtaking views. While return we experienced snowfall in Khardungla Pass, which was like cherry on top. The driver we got was a very helpful and kind-hearted person. We very much enjoyed his accompany for the entire Ladakh Trip. All the arrangements were as per expectations and committed by them. A big thumps up for NatureWings, we highly recommend them to all.
For the first time in my life, I booked a package tour from a tour operator, and based on my experience, I must say it will not be my last. From the very first day of communication a thoroughly professional approach, keeping the best interests and the needs of the customer in mind at all times was their point of concern. All the arrangements were good & value for money, and the process of procuring permits and other formalities was seamless and smooth. The hotels and food were good, and even arrangements were made for vegetarian food as well. Overall, an excellent memorable experience. Team NatureWings was very responsive and we always felt safe and well taken care of throughout the trip. We enjoyed our Ladakh Package Tour from Mumbai at our fullest satisfaction. Kudos Team - NatureWings.
