DETAIL ITINERARY FOR 9N/10D LEH LADAKH OFFBEAT TOUR PACKAGES

DAY 1 : PICK UP AND TRANSFER TO HOTEL

Arrival Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. After welcome drink take a complete rest for acclimatization to the height altitude of Leh (3500 meters). In the late afternoon drive to the city for an orientation walk in the markets‚ followed by a visit to Shanti Stupa‚ Leh palace.

SHANTI STUPA

Is situated on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district, Ladakh, in the north Indian state of Leh. Shanti Stupa as know Buddhist white-domed stupa. It was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura. The Shanti Stupa holds the relics of the Buddha at its base, enshrined by the 14th Dalai Lama himself. Shanti stupa provides beautiful and panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. This has become a primary reason for Shanti Stupa to become a popular tourist attraction, apart from its religious.

LEH PALACE

Also known as 17th-century former royal palace and one of the central attractions in Leh. Built under the patronage of by King Sengge Namgyal, it used to house his family. The nine-storey dun-coloured palace now houses a museum and a prayer room, while the highlight is the sweeping view of Leh and the surrounding Zanskar mountain from the rooftop. Dinner and overnight in hotel Leh.

DAY 2 : LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING - INDUS VALLEY

Post Breakfast we proceed for Indus Valley Monastery Starting with Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, Thiksey Monastery an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village, Shey Palace, The ancient capital of Ladakh, 3 Idiots Rancho School &Sindhu Ghat. After visiting above places we drive back to Leh. Evening at leisure to explore the city on your own. Post lunch, in the afternoon visit to Leh Palace. Overnight stay in Leh

DAY 3 : LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING - SHAM VALLEY

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing on the Leh – Srinagar Highway. Visit the Hall of Fame This is a museum maintained by the Indian Army showcasing their strength during the different wars fought, Kali Mata Temple & Gurudwara Patthar Sahib supposed to be built to mark the visit of Guru Nanak Dev to this area. Proceed further and experience the effects of Magnetic Hill which is set to defy the law of gravity and admire the confluence of holy Indus & Zanskar. Return back to Leh and overnight stay in Leh Hotel.

DAY 4 : LEH–NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA 18,390 FT. [120 KMS 4 – 5 HRS]

Post breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (Second Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level.

Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp / Hotel in Hunder for Overnight stay. In the evening you can walk around the tiny villages to see how the locals live in this part of the world. Dinner & Overnight Stay at the Camp or Hotel at Nubra

DAY 5 : HUNDER – TURTUK – HUNDER [82 KMS – 3 HRS ONE WAY]

After an early breakfast we will drive to Turtuk, and a lot of other small villages, which were brought under Indian control after the 1971 war, when the Indian army pushed the Pakistani soldiers past the mountains towering the Nubra Valley. Turtuk lies at the extreme corner of the Indian border, and hence its accessibility is a challenge. Due to treacherous roads and sensitive army base camps, permits were not issued to Indian civilians until late 2010.

Although the roads are marred by landslides and shooting stones, the 3 hour drive from Hunder to Turtuk is nothing less than exceptional. Throughout the journey, one has the company of Shyok, as well as the vistas, that define the barrenness which is characteristic to Ladakh. After visiting we drive back to our camp or Hotel in Hunder for Overnight stay. Overnight at Hunder, Nubra Valley

DAY 6 : NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE (170 KMS - 7 HRS)

After an early breakfast we check out from Camp or hotel and drive towards ;Hunder where you have the opportunity to ride on a bactrian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you come across sand dunes besides the road. Seen in isolation you could well be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.

It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the left of the road is the Rocky Mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance can be seen snow-capped mountains. On the return stop at Diskit which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores. Diskit is famous for its 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley.

Later we will drive towards Pangong Tso via Agham & Shyok Valley. Some of the road patches in areas are extremely tough (towards the nubra side) in terms of road conditions but no doubt the journey is very scenic! Later after crossing this adventurous part we drive further towards Durbuk & Tangtse for Pangong you pass through a few small villages of Changthang and finally you can have a sudden view of the Pangong lake situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m). This famous blue brackish Lake of Pangong is 5/6 Kms wide and over 133 Kms long with half of it running the other side of the "Indo China Border". One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. After the success of 3 Idiots, this beautiful natural location has attracted more tourists from all over the world. Upon arrival we will check in at the hotel in Pangong lake.Overnight at Pangong.

DAY 7 : PANGONG LAKE TO HANLEY [310 KM - 7 HRS - VIA TSAKA LA RD]

Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of lake and later we drive further towards the east. This is a new route which has very recently been opened for tourists. Drive along the Pangong lake enroute crossing villages of Man, Mirak, Chushul (which is just 80 kms from the Chinese border and is famous for the memorial of Maj. Shaitan Singh who who sacrificed his life in the Sino India war of 1962 and every year the flag meeting of the Chinese and Indian Army is held here). Overnight at Hanley.

DAY 8 : HANLEY TO TSO MORIRI [159 KM - 4 HRS]

Morning at leisure to explore the beauty of the lake and later we drive to Tso Moriri. Overnight at Tso Moriri.

DAY 9 : TSO MORIRI TO LEH [220 KM - 4 HRS 51 MIN]

Post breakfast we check out from the Camp and proceed towards Tsokar Lake. On the way we will see the hot sulphur springs at Puga known to have medicinal properties and cure a lot of ailments. Thereafter we continue to drive in the same direction and visit the Tsokar lake. Thereafter we continue to drive towards Leh enroute stoping at Tanglangla pass, the second highest motorable pass in the world at 5350 m. return back to Leh. Overnight Stay in Leh.

DAY 10 : DEPART FOR LEH [FLY OUT]

NatureWings M.D. Mr. Sandip Raha, with his expert knowledge, arranged my Kashmir Trip from Mumbai with the best hotels in picturesque locations like Gulmarg and Pahalgam while providing a Houseboat in Srinagar for the first 3 nights and a hotel for the last 1 night. The hotels were decent and had a nice view from the rooms with good services, but we enjoyed more while staying in the Houseboat and it was like pampering our-self in the lap of pristine nature all away from the busy cities. We went to some lesser-known extraordinary locations of Kashmir like Doodhpathri, Bangus Valley, Lolab Valley, and Baisaran Valley as recommended by Mr. Raha, and enjoyed the Gondola Ride both the phase. We had an awesome Kashmir Tour this September. Had only four days. But thanks to meticulous planning and effort of the staff at NatureWings, we could cover Pahelgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar fairly well. We landed on the day of election in Srinagar. But team NatureWings took all care. Was very very lucky to make it to both Gulmarg Phase II and Tulip Garden. Gulmarg is simply out of the world. Dal lake Shikara Ride was so relaxing. Kids loved the Houseboat stay the most. At the end wished just life could just go on like this - family, friends and fun.

We booked a Kashmir Trip with Houseboat Package from NatureWings and matching our preference Mr. Sandip Raha provided our stay on the Dal Lake. The location of the Houseboat was excellent, and the rooms were beautiful with lovely Kashmiri decorations and a good view of the busy Srinagar city. Once we landed at the Houseboat, we were overwhelmed with the warm welcome we received from them, and the best part was sitting on the deck and capturing the calm sunrise and sunset while sipping on hot Kahwa. Our 4 nights stay at the Srinagar Houseboat was a memorable one, and we didn’t book any hotel at this place and opted for these unique stay arrangements.

We were in a group of 2 families with 4 adults and 2 kids. We stayed in "Heaven on Earth" this summer. Had a marvelous experience with Naturewings. The guides and drivers were very courteous. Picked us up from Srinagar Airport. There was curfew in the city, but tourists vehicles were allowed to go without any trouble. The drivers worked hard to find out a good restaurant for lunch. Reached Pahalgam in the evening. Next day, visited the beautiful Chandanwadi and Betaab Valley and then shifted to Gulmarg. On the 3rd day, went upto the 2nd phase of Gondola. Unless you go this place, you will not believe that such heaven exists on the earth. Weather God was kind enough during the entire trip. Breath-taking view from 4200 mts, all Whites. Imtiyaz was a great guide at Gulmarg. After coming back to phase 1, had lunch on restaurant on the snow. First time, experienced skiing, sledge, snow mobiles. It was an experience which we can never forget. Shifted to beautiful Srinagar in the evening and stayed in Super-Deluxe Monalisa House Boat. Again, that was an experience. Had Shikara Ride with lot of mouth-watering foods. Next day visited all the gardens. Overall, it was a great experience. A big big thanks to the team of NatureWings.

I had visited Kashmir with Vaishno Devi and it was a very nice experience. The hotels provided to us was really great to stay. The sightseeing was exactly what was sent to me in the itinerary. We usually love to stay in fancy hotels but while booking our Kashmir Tour Package from Mumbai, Mr. Sandip recommended us book at least one night in the Houseboat, and trusting him we said YES, but when we checked in and got our beautiful room with such a nice décor and amazing views of the mountains and Dal Lake in one frame we knew it was the best decision made. The royal treatment with mouthwatering Kashmiri delicacies was excellent, and if we plan for a second Kashmir Trip, we would again choose a Houseboat for our stay but more nights.
