Aritar, an isolated place in Rongli subdivision of Sikkim is located on the edge of the Himalayas. Exclusive, remote retreats, with panoramic Himalayan views that will make your soul soar. The nearby Lampokhri lake or Aritar lake is one of the oldest lake in Sikkim and the main tourist attraction of Aritar. Lampokhri lake is the highest boating lake in Sikkim. Tourists can also stay in Mankhim Top from where the lake and snow covered Mt Kanchenjangha looks really splendid. It is a latest offbeat destination in East Sikkim and growing popularity amongst the tourist community across the world.

Aritar is situated in Renock subdivision of East Sikkim. It is one of the important places in the Old Historic Silk Route.

By Rail: Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP). It will take 4hrs and 30 min to reach Aritar by car from NJP.

By Air: : Nearest Airport is Bagdogra (IXB). By car It will take 5hrs to reach Aritar from Bagdogra.

By Road:: Aritar can be reached from Siliguri by various hired vehicle in roughly 5hours. Nearest town: Rhenock, 6 Km from Aritar is the nearest town.

Clothing & Luggage: Travel as light as possible with least minimum clothes, toiletries and other essential commodities. The weather of Aritar during summer requires light woolen garments. In the winter, heavy woolen is required.

Food And Drink: Drink only bottled water. Please carry your water from Renock / Pedong or Siliguri. Since this area doesn’t have any single shop , it is always advisable to carry dry foods like to carry biscuits, chips, dry fruits, fruits etc. Foreign Liquors / Alcohols are not also available in Aritar.

Health Facility & Health Precautions: It is advisable to carry specific medicines as there are no pharmacy shops in Aritar. Always carry a kit of the basic emergency medicines you might need for diarrhea, fever, etc; also band aids and an antiseptic ointment. The nearest health facility/medicine shop is available at Rhenock.

Card Payment & ATM: Credit/Debit Card is not accepted in Aritar. In Aritar there is also no ATM. Please carry cash for all your transactions.

Telephone / Mobile phones: All major mobile operator covers Aritar. However, in many occasions signals are not strong enough. It is advisable to carry mobiles phones from two different mobile service providers.


Mankhim Top : Mankhim, a temple of Rai section of Hindu are located at 6500 ft above sea level. From Mankhim top the beauty of Lamphokri Lake is really superb and splendid. Guests can take a soft trek to Mankhim Top. NatureWings also arranges accommodation in Mankhim Top.

Lampokhri Lake or Aritar lake : Lampokhri is one of the oldest natural lakes in Sikkim, located at an altitude of 4600ft. Tourist can enjoy boating here. It is highest lake in Sikkim with boating facility. It is also around 1 hr drive from Reshikhola.

Dak Bunglow : Popularly known as Aritar-Bunglow, it is an old bunglow built by Sir James Claude White. It was the first treasury and police outpost in Sikkim.

Aritar Gumpa : Aritar gumpa is a monastery, considered as one of the holiest and oldest gumpha in Sikkim. Its carved and painted murals will enthrall tourists.

Reshikhola : Reshikhola is a picturesque valley on the bank of river Reshi. Tourist can enjoy trekking, bonfire, fishing etc in Reshikhola.
