To add to your romance, there is the Mall, a flat plaza at the end of a steep road. Once you reach there, Darjeeling will embrace you completely with its stunning scenic beauty. There are chairs in front of a wall on the edge of the mall where you can sit and meet the thirst of your eyes and soul staring at the scenic surroundings of Darjeeling. On a clear day, you can get a grand view of the Kanchenjunga. You can simply sit here or go for a gentle stroll on the road that leads to a view point behind the Mall. As you start approaching towards Mall from the jeep stand a signboard hanging from a building on the left side of the road will surely attract you. It’s the Keventers, without which Darjeeling is incomplete. Don’t miss the charm of having hot chocolate and snacks on its open terrace from where Kanchenjunga looks like a crystal crown on the head of beautiful green valley. After completing the coffee session, you can start walking towards Mall again though shops full of exciting items, especially woolens and electronic goods will surely lengthen your journey. You may opt for a gentle horse ride at the Mall and give yourself and your ‘love’ a royal moment.

Darjeeling is often referred to as Queen of Hills and every person who has been to this stunning hill station has admitted it as a fact. You will get added to this unending list once your car starts approaching towards the town passing Ghoom station. Darjeeling is so beautiful that you can spend days here without any activity. The whistle and sound of toy train’s engine is the heartbeat of Darjeeling and hence you should enjoy a ride on the small train. Operated by Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, the toy train service is a World Heritage Site.

Around Darjeeling

Sunrise from Tiger Hill: Situated at the top point of Ghum at a distance of 11 kilometers from Darjeeling, Tiger Hill is famous as a sunrise view point. If weather is clear you can enjoy an indescribable view of the sun rising on the horizon with small jumps like a fresh orange.

Ghoom Railway Station and Railway Museum: Just 6 kilometers away from Darjeeling, Ghum is a beautiful railway station which also houses a railway history museum. You may also walk down the hilly roads to reach the Ghum Monastery, one of the largest in West Bengal.

Kolakham
